El Rose Foundation's 4th Annual Silver Sunsets Stroll

El Rose Foundation's 4th Annual Silver Sunsets Stroll

The El Rose Foundation was founded in 2017 by Elliot Lamboy. Since its inception, it has been committed to giving back to communities across New York City. The charity was begun with "Coats for the Cold", a coat drive that has grown exponentially year after year, most recently breaking 10,000 total donations in 2023. Coats for the Cold changed the lives of less fortunate families throughout the boroughs, opening Elliot's eyes to the opportunity of expanding his commitment to service.

The Silver Sunsets Stroll came to life in 2020, a year that left us all facing unimaginable hardships. Although everyone had to sacrifice, there is arguably no group that was left more marginalized in New York State than the elderly folks of nursing homes. Their quality of life was diminished, being banished to their rooms with limited contact and high risk of disease.

The vision for the Silver Sunset Stroll was simple in concept -- get the seniors outside for a night of nature, laughter and friendship. However, the road to accomplish this feat was not so much. It took months of hard work fighting the city on restrictions and polishing details to ensure the safety of all involved. Partnering with the Bay Ridge Community, local businesses, and Senator Marty Golden, the El Rose foundation was able to successfully deliver on their promise of bringing this event to life for the members of the Pope John Paul nursing home.

One of Daybreake's founders, Thomas Remmen, has worked alongside Elliot from the start in executing Silver Sunsets Stroll. He has helped organize, plan and operate the event each year. When he founded Daybreake with his partner Jack Ryan in March 2024, one of their first objectives was to produce the shirts for Silver Sunset's 4th annual event.

On June 27th, 2024, the volunteers and seniors of the home proudly wore Daybreake sponsored shirts. The shirt included a tribute to Mr. Lamboy's late mother, Edna Mae Lamboy, who passed away in 2023. Tom and Jack couldn't have been prouder to support the El Rose foundation and attend this wonderful event
