The 5th annual Billy Ryan horseshoe memorial tournament was hosted on August 24th, 2024 in Roxbury, New York. The event is in memory of Billy Ryan, father of Daybreake co-founder, Jack Ryan. The entire community comes together to play in (semi) friendly horseshoe games throughout the day while enjoying music, drinking, and food together.
The event is run by Jack, his family, and other close community leaders. In 2024, we had the honor of producing the T-shirts for the event. The design included a sketch of Billy sitting on his beach chair overlooking the Gil-Hodges memorial bridge, his favorite spot to be in. Additionally, a lyric from one of his favorite grateful dead songs, "Green grass and high-tides forever". Jack said that there was "no greater way he could have served his father's memory" than by having the opportunity to commemorate him through doing something he loves.
